Most of our visitors need 1 to 1.5 hours to view the exhibition at their leisure. For this reason, we recommend that you arrive at the museum by 5:00 pm at the latest in order to have enough time to see all the exhibition contents.

The Museum Karl-Marx-Haus is a listed historical building that could not be made accessible. The museum can be accessed via a step at the entrance door. Our museum staff will be happy to assist you there.

The museum is not equipped with any lifts or toilets that are accessible to disabled persons. The toilet facilities are located in the basement. However, the barrier-free accessible toilet in the museum's administration building opposite can be used on request.

The museum consists of a front and a rear building. Both parts of the building are connected on the ground floor by an inner courtyard, which can be crossed via three, respectively, two steps. Behind the rear building is the museum garden, which can be reached via one step down and two steps up.

The reduced admission price applies to visitors with a degree of disability of 50% or more (according to German "GdB" scale). We grant free admission for visitors with 80% or more (according to German "GdB" scale). Please note: Free tickets are only available on site at the museum ticket office, they are not available in the online shop.

You can buy books and souvenirs relating to Karl Marx in the entrance area of the Museum Karl-Marx-Haus. The opening hours of the shop are the same as those of the museum. Purchases in the museum shop are possible without an admission ticket.
